Festival Special Puja
Gita Jayanti celebrates the sacred teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, traditionally associated with Lord Krishna's guidance to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. The observance includes Bhagavad Gita Path, Shri Krishna Puja, mantra chanting, and devotional prayers to reflect on dharma, wisdom, and spiritual understanding.
Gita Jayanti is a Hindu religious observance commemorating the traditional occasion on which Lord Shri Krishna imparted the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. The Bhagavad Gita is a revered Hindu scripture that explores dharma, duty, devotion, self-discipline, knowledge, and the nature of the self. The festival is traditionally observed on Mokshada Ekadashi during the Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha, although the Gregorian date changes each year.
Reciting or listening to the Bhagavad Gita is a devotional practice through which devotees reflect on Lord Krishna's teachings. The scripture explains different spiritual paths, including Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, and Jnana Yoga. Gita Jayanti provides an opportunity for devotees to read its verses, listen to their meaning, and reflect on the role of duty, compassion, discipline, and devotion in daily life.
The ceremony may be adapted to the family's tradition, temple customs, and the selected recitation package. A customary observance may include the following steps:
Mantra: ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय॥
This traditional mantra is recited in devotion to Lord Krishna. The pandit may also include selected Bhagavad Gita verses, Krishna stotras, or other prayers according to the family's or temple's tradition.
Individuals, families, spiritual groups, temples, and religious organisations may arrange Gita Jayanti Puja and Bhagavad Gita Path at home or at a suitable religious venue. The ceremony can be organised as a short recitation of selected verses, a chapter-wise path, or a longer scripture-reading programme according to the devotees' preferences.
Depending on the selected package, arrangements may include a pandit, Shri Krishna Puja, recitation of selected Bhagavad Gita chapters or verses, mantra chanting, Aarti, and selected puja samagri. Please confirm whether the package includes a complete Bhagavad Gita recitation or only selected chapters, the language of recitation, the duration, and any explanation of the verses.
Note: Bhagavad Gita Path duration and procedure depend on the scope of the recitation. Complete recitation, group participation, translation, and additional ritual arrangements may require separate planning.
