Grahan Dosh Nivaran Puja is a traditional Hindu religious ceremony associated with astrological beliefs surrounding Surya Grahan (solar eclipse) and Chandra Grahan (lunar eclipse). Depending on the astrological interpretation and selected ritual, the ceremony may include worship of Surya Dev or Chandra Dev, Rahu and Ketu prayers, mantra jaap, daan, and havan. Devotees perform this puja to express their faith and seek divine blessings, spiritual peace, and auspiciousness.
Grahan Dosh Nivaran Puja is a traditional religious observance associated with eclipse-related beliefs in Hindu astrology. Surya Grahan refers to a solar eclipse, while Chandra Grahan refers to a lunar eclipse. In Vedic astrology, Rahu and Ketu are traditionally associated with the astronomical nodes involved in eclipse calculations, and certain birth-chart combinations are interpreted by some astrologers as Grahan Dosh or Grahan Yoga.
The appropriate ritual can vary depending on whether the concern relates to Surya, Chandra, Rahu, Ketu, or a particular birth-chart interpretation. Devotees may perform prayers to the relevant deities and grahas, chant traditional mantras, make charitable offerings, and arrange a havan according to their family tradition and the advice of a knowledgeable priest.
1. Sankalp and Preparation: The puja area is cleaned and prepared with a suitable altar, diya, incense, flowers, and customary offerings. The pandit begins with a sankalp based on the devotee's intention and the selected ritual format.
2. Ganesh Vandana: Prayers may be offered to Lord Ganesha for an auspicious beginning to the ceremony.
3. Worship of the Relevant Deity: Depending on the ceremony, Surya Dev or Chandra Dev may be worshipped with flowers, water, akshat, incense, and other suitable offerings. Rahu and Ketu prayers may also be included where appropriate.
4. Graha Mantra Jaap: The pandit recites the agreed mantras associated with the relevant deity or graha. The mantra selection and repetition count depend on the chosen ritual tradition and should be confirmed before booking.
5. Havan and Offerings: If included, a havan is performed with appropriate mantras and offerings into the sacred fire. The havan samagri, duration, and ritual sequence vary by package and tradition.
6. Daan and Charitable Offerings: Some traditions include daan or charitable offerings as part of eclipse-related observances. The items and practice should follow the family's custom and the pandit's guidance.
7. Purnahuti and Aarti: The ceremony concludes with the customary final offerings, prayers, and aarti. Prasad may be distributed to family members and devotees.
Surya Mantra:
Om Ghrini Suryaya Namah
Chandra Mantra:
Om Som Somaya Namah
Rahu Mantra:
Om Bhram Bhreem Bhraum Sah Rahave Namah
Ketu Mantra:
Om Sram Sreem Sraum Sah Ketave Namah
The pandit may select the relevant mantra or combination of mantras according to the specific puja. All four mantras are not necessarily required for every Grahan Dosh ceremony.
Individuals and families who wish to observe traditional eclipse-related worship or have received a Grahan Dosh interpretation during an astrological consultation may arrange this puja at home or at a suitable temple. The ritual should be selected according to the specific concern rather than assuming that every eclipse or birth chart requires the same ceremony.
The selected package may include a pandit's services, worship of the relevant deity or graha, mantra recitation, and concluding prayers. Havan, extended mantra jaap, Navagraha Puja, daan materials, flowers, fruits, other puja samagri, travel, and detailed kundali consultation may require separate arrangements.
Please confirm the specific puja format, ceremony duration, language, mantra count, havan arrangements, venue, and exact inclusions before booking. Eclipse-related astrological interpretations vary across traditions, and this religious ceremony should not be presented as a guaranteed remedy for health, financial, family, or professional concerns.
