Rahu-Ketu Shanti Puja

Rahu-Ketu Shanti Puja is a traditional Hindu ritual dedicated to Rahu and Ketu, which are known as the two shadow planets or lunar nodes in Vedic astrology. Unlike the visible planets, Rahu and Ketu are mathematical points associated with the intersection of the Sun's and Moon's paths.

In traditional Vedic astrology, Rahu and Ketu are considered significant for understanding certain karmic and astrological influences. A Rahu-Ketu Shanti Puja is performed as a traditional devotional practice for Graha Shanti and Dosh Nivaran, particularly by devotees who follow astrological traditions concerning the lunar nodes.

About the Puja

Rahu and Ketu have distinct traditional associations in Hindu and astrological traditions. Rahu is commonly associated with desires, material pursuits, unconventional experiences and worldly attachments, while Ketu is traditionally associated with detachment, spirituality, introspection and liberation.

The puja brings the worship of both Rahu and Ketu together. A Pandit performs the Sankalp, invokes the relevant deities and conducts traditional mantra recitation, offerings and Graha Shanti rituals.

Depending on the selected puja procedure, the ceremony may also include Havan and specific offerings traditionally associated with Rahu and Ketu.

Traditional Significance of Rahu and Ketu

Rahu and Ketu are traditionally regarded as the North Node and South Node of the Moon in Vedic astrology. Their placement in a birth chart is traditionally considered when studying different astrological influences.

Rahu is often associated with worldly desires, ambition, unconventional paths and strong attachments, while Ketu is associated with detachment, spiritual inclination, introspection and past karmic impressions.

Because of these traditional associations, devotees may perform Rahu-Ketu Shanti Puja as a form of spiritual observance and traditional astrological remedy.
