Shani Dosh Nivaran Puja

Shani Dosh Nivaran Puja is a traditional Hindu ritual dedicated to Shani Dev, who is associated with the planet Saturn and is traditionally worshipped as a deity connected with karma, justice, discipline and responsibility.

In Vedic astrology, Shani is considered an important planet whose placement and periods are traditionally examined when assessing certain challenges in a birth chart. Shani Dosh Nivaran Puja is performed as a traditional devotional practice for Shani Graha Shanti and is often observed by devotees who follow astrological and religious traditions related to Shani Dev.

About the Puja

Shani Dev is traditionally worshipped especially on Saturday (Shanivar). Traditional Shani worship commonly uses black sesame (til), sesame or mustard oil, black-coloured offerings, flowers and other appropriate puja samagri.

During Shani Dosh Nivaran Puja, the Pandit begins the ceremony with Sankalp and invokes Shani Dev through traditional prayers and mantras. The worship may include Shani Mantra Jaap, offerings to Shani Dev, Graha Shanti rituals and, depending on the selected package, Havan.

The ceremony is performed as a traditional spiritual practice intended to express devotion to Shani Dev and seek his blessings according to Hindu religious traditions.

Traditional Significance of Shani Dev

Shani Dev occupies an important place in Hindu religious traditions. He is traditionally associated with karma, justice, discipline, patience, responsibility and perseverance.

In Vedic astrology, Shani represents discipline and long-term effort. Traditional Shani worship therefore emphasizes patience, righteous conduct, humility and responsible actions along with devotional practices.

Shani Dosh Nivaran Puja may be performed by devotees who wish to undertake traditional Shani worship during periods they associate with challenging Shani influences.
