Shukra Dosh Puja

Shukra Dosh Puja is a traditional Hindu worship ritual dedicated to Shukra Dev, who is associated with the planet Venus in Vedic astrology. Shukra is also known as Shukracharya and is traditionally regarded as the Guru of the Asuras in Hindu scriptures.

In Vedic astrology, Shukra is traditionally associated with beauty, love, relationships, creativity, artistic expression, comforts, luxury and material pleasures. Shukra Dosh Puja is performed as part of traditional Graha Shanti and Dosh Nivaran practices for an afflicted or unfavourable Shukra.

About the Puja

Shukra worship is traditionally associated with Friday (Shukravar), and white is commonly considered an auspicious colour for Shukra-related worship. During the puja, the Pandit performs the Sankalp and invokes Shukra Dev before carrying out the prescribed prayers, mantra recitation and offerings.

Traditional Shukra Puja may include white flowers, rice, sweets, fragrance and other appropriate puja samagri. Shukra Mantra Jaap and devotional prayers form an important part of the ceremony.

The puja is performed according to traditional Hindu and Vedic astrological practices and is intended as a spiritual and devotional observance.

Traditional Significance of Shukra Worship

Shukra Dev holds an important place in Hindu traditions as Shukracharya, the teacher of the Asuras. In Vedic astrology, Venus is considered a significant planet associated with relationships, artistic abilities, beauty, comforts and worldly pleasures.

Because of these traditional associations, devotees may perform Shukra worship as a form of spiritual practice and to seek the blessings of Shukra Dev.
