Sheshnag / Vasuki Puja

Sheshnag / Vasuki Puja is a traditional Hindu worship ceremony dedicated to Sheshnag and Vasuki Nag, two highly revered figures in Hindu religious traditions. Nag Devata worship has an important place in various Hindu rituals, especially those connected with devotion, protection, sacred symbolism and traditional serpent worship.

Sheshnag, also known as Ananta, is traditionally described as the divine serpent associated with Lord Vishnu and is often depicted providing shelter to Vishnu. Vasuki Nag is another important serpent figure in Hindu tradition and is famously associated with the Samudra Manthan, where Vasuki was used as the churning rope.

The puja is performed as an expression of devotion and reverence toward these sacred Nag Devatas.

Traditional Significance of Sheshnag

Sheshnag, also known as Ananta, holds a significant position in Hindu scriptures and devotional traditions. He is traditionally associated with Lord Vishnu and is represented as a symbol of eternity and divine support.

Devotees may perform Sheshnag worship as part of traditional Nag Devata prayers and religious observances.

Traditional Significance of Vasuki Nag

Vasuki Nag is traditionally regarded as an important Nag Devata and is prominently mentioned in the story of Samudra Manthan. According to Hindu tradition, Vasuki served as the churning rope during the cosmic churning of the ocean.

Worship of Vasuki Nag is therefore associated with traditional reverence toward Nag Devata and their place within Hindu mythology.
